White Water Rafting

For a day of adrenaline and excitement, your best choice is a day of rafting. Whether it is on action packed Class IV-V rapids or gentle Class II-III waters, it is a thrilling experience! Other softer options are the safari floats on Class I-II waters as well as tubing adventures that are becoming more and more popular since the Kardashians visit.

All options are immersed in stunning river locations, where nature and forests are truly abundant and spectacular. These settings are home to an abundance of wildlife that can be spotted when travelling down river. The adventure is usually heart-pounding, breathtaking and exhilarating when it is between Class III & V. However, nature and wildlife are much appreciated when paddling on slower rivers.

Many of Costa Rica’s rivers are considered some of the best in the world due to both the scenery and intense rapids. The tour usually starts with an early morning pick up to a river destination. Once you arrive at the river, your local bilingual guides will deliver a thorough safety briefing and fit you with your helmet, life jacket and paddles. The seating on each boat gets assigned by your guide for best paddling performance. When everyone is ready, the adventure begins. Many times the rafting takes place on rivers with deep gorges in densely vegetated areas, passing next to massive waterfalls and impressive primary rainforests. Animal species that live in these forests are jaguars, monkeys, ocelots and large quantities of birds.

For the Class III to V rapids, the minimum age is 14 years old. These rapids are moderately difficult and can be done by anyone in normal healthy physical condition. Swimming experience is required!
