As we navigate through the second half of October, one of Costa Rica’s rainiest months, exciting news has come our way. We are delighted to announce the return of two highly anticipated direct flight routes between San José and major European cities! KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and British Airways will resume their non-stop services to Costa Rica, bringing Amsterdam and London closer than ever.
Starting October 28th, 2024, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines will once again connect San José, Costa Rica, with Amsterdam, Netherlands, via direct flights. The route will be operated by the state-of-the-art Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, a testament to KLM’s commitment to providing passengers with a modern, comfortable flying experience.
KLM’s San José-Amsterdam service will operate four times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, offering passengers a convenient schedule for both leisure and business trips. According to official airline information, the flight will depart Costa Rica at 8:35 PM and touch down in Amsterdam at 2:05 PM the following day, after approximately 11 hours in the air. The return flight from Amsterdam will depart at 12:25 PM, landing in San José at 5:10 PM local time.
“We’re thrilled to reintroduce the direct San José-Amsterdam flight, a route eagerly anticipated by our passengers. This marks a significant milestone in enhancing connectivity and convenience for our customers,” said Diana Vargas, KLM’s Country Manager in Costa Rica.
British Airways is also set to resume its direct flights between Juan Santamaría International Airport and London Gatwick (LGW) starting October 29th, 2024. The airline will operate three weekly flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays using the Boeing 777-200ER, a long-range aircraft known for its reliable performance and passenger comfort.
Flights from San José will take off at 6:35 PM, landing at London Gatwick at 10:55 AM the following day. The return flight from London is scheduled to depart at 11:05 AM, with an estimated arrival time in Costa Rica of 4:45 PM. This service is ideal for travelers looking to escape the chilly autumn and winter months in Europe and bask in the tropical warmth that Costa Rica has to offer.
With both KLM and British Airways resuming operations, Costa Rica is once again connected to two major European hubs, providing travelers with more options and greater flexibility. These direct flights are expected to significantly boost tourism, with more European visitors expected to flock to Costa Rica’s lush rainforests, pristine beaches, and eco-friendly resorts.
